Ceilidh Review
by Jake Shewmake

Introduction
Background Information from Lilikoi Software

Ceilidh (a Celtic word pronounced kay-lee) is a dynamic web-based conferencing and document sharing program which is being marketed by Lilikoi Software for use in business and educational environments. While this review focuses on the uses of the program in an educational environment, much of the discussion here might also be valuable for people interested in capitalizing on web-based conferencing programs for other uses.

In short, Ceilidh allows multiple users to communicate, collaborate, and manipulate documents over the web. A virtually synchronous environment is combined with a host of other features to create a powerful tool for maximizing the effectiveness of the web to communicate over distances. While many educational software developers are working toward a web-based interface, Ceilidh developers have moved beyond that phase and are currently working on ways to add additional program administration capabilities to the system.

This review will discuss Ceilidh, provide an opportunity to view a tutorial, and offer a program test.
