About the Author

Jake Shewmake is a second year Master's student in the Theory and Practice of Writing program at Utah State University. He has been using the Ceilidh program for over a year now to help students become more effective writers in his online classroom and in the development of the online writing center at USU. He is currently working on his thesis, Beyond Communication: The Use of Web-Based Programs to Teach Writing in Online Classrooms. He plans to pursue a Ph.D. in Composition and Rhetoric in the Fall 1998. He is also the editor of Petroglyph: A Journal of Creative Natural History Writing and a die hard hiker, and he also writes poetry, short fiction, and creative non-fiction.
