Near the end of the quarter my students watched
"Defeating
Terror, Defending Freedom," a short film in Flash and Quicktime formats
that is accessible on the International Information Programs web site for
the U.S. Department of State
In the visual narrative that moved quickly over
key events, tension seemed to build, climax, and be resolved. The sequence
moved from attacks abroad, to attacks at home, to international reaction,
to the history of the conspiracy and the case against Bin Laden, to diplomatic
coalition building, to the the beginning of the bombing campaign, and finally
to a photograph of clasped hands of many colors. |
