Because most of the victims in the attack on the World Trade Center were male, female victimization was de-emphasized in presidential rhetoric or, as previously argued, transformed into female victimization as pregnant survivorship in televised talk shows.

In contrast, in the flyers dropped on Afghanistan, the vulnerability of "women and children" is repeatedly emphasized.  In one flyer women and children are shown as shielding Al Qaeda from the forces of just retribution; in another they are shown as unshielded from the wrath of pro-Taliban misogyny.
