Study 1: Analysis and Results

From the 90 surveys I received back I selected 50 surveys quasi-randomly (every other survey from each class and then a random five to fill the number out to 50). To analyze the answers I translated the rating of feminine, neutral, and masculine into numbers 1-3; with 1 meaning feminine, 2 neutral, and 3 masculine. With the gender answers as numbers I could analyze my results numerically and create a gender continuum from feminine to masculine.

When analyzing the results, I focused on three research questions:
1. Were some statements considered "gendered" (highly masculine or feminine)?
2. Do females and males rank the same statement similarly?
3. How consistent is the average rating for each sex?

With these questions, I examined the standard deviations, the variance, and the average rating for each question and also examined the results for both sexes.
