The second
item on my list concerns the visibility of investigations into the
complex research, thinking, planning, and writing involved in multimodal
compositions. A CHAT-based perspective would require activities
and writing assignments that ask course participants to both "see"
and manipulate with skill the complex enactments and rhetorical
trajectories of a particular text.
Item
Two:
Course assignments for a CHAT-based first-year writing program must
encompass complex compositional processes and must encourage both
active manipulation of these processes and reflection about the
effects of different compositional choices. These activities must
be visible to both course participants and outside audiences. |
