Because this paper was first written as an article to be included in Dene Grigar's and John Barber's New Worlds, New Words, it has retained much of its original linear structure. In our attempts to divide the material for hypertextual format, we have provided three systems of navigation:

  1. Linear Table of Contents which closely resembles the way the text was originally written.
  2. and  buttons within each section that help you stay oriented within embedded links if you choose to follow our suggested reading path.
  3. Overview which provides a short narrative description of the article with its parts embedded.

  4. Please Note: if you choose to navigate the site from the Overview page, our Back and Forward navigational buttons will not bring you back to the Overview page.
We have also included a link bar at the bottom of each screen.
