Personal View

Breasts are symbolic of one of the most popular acts in America, Sex. Obviously, women with large breasts will receive more attention. For instance, a woman strolling down Grand River Avenue flaunting her cleavage cannot be easily ignored. Some may look at her with envy, desire, or even shock, but the point is that she thrives on having the power to make people look (or is she a prisoner). It is absolutely acceptable and even encouraged for a woman to do so in the American culture. Big boobs are in.

However, thirty years ago, some would have looked at our Grande River Avenue woman in disgust. During the 1960s, a full bust was out of style. The trend was for women to look like the grossly underweight, flat-chested model, Twiggy. Yet this is too simple. Sizes and shapes always change. The 1990s trend is to look like Pamela Anderson. This television actress has become the "ideal" woman and is solely known for her huge breasts. The ratings for the cheesy television show Baywatch have never decreased because of Anderson's pathetic acting or tacky clown-like makeup. Her breasts have saved the show from being canceled.

So how are the rest of American women going to achieve Anderson's famous feature? Breast implants is one way, but there has been a lot of controversy concerning the dangers of the implants. However, women have found a more economical and safer way to create bigger breasts with certain bras that are specifically designed to create the illusion of cleavage. Most women want to keep up with the trends in order to feel beautiful and desirable. In America, it is all about fitting in, the evolution of large breasts is just another commercial trend.
