Finally, students sometimes begin to post using language that might sound more elevated and educated in order to appeal to their audience. In one discussion that had been ensuing for a while, one student attempted to sway the popular opinion by offering his personal experience in language that made him seem more educated: "I personally see no problem with this because it is part of my culture and I am not the only one with this family system bestowed in their life." What is interesting is the use of the word "bestowed" in the post. Although used awkwardly, this piece of elevated vocabulary is also a method the student uses to establish his credibility.
