Americanization of Emily?

With the reader's indulgence, I am inhabiting the sprawl here a bit in this whimsical sharing of a personal affective experience enjoyed during the composition of this article. The point is not to try the reader's patience, but to illustrate, if obliquely, the associative, magical but "systemizable" process of "composition"--meaning or coherence making--be it in text production or "technologization" (two processes which this article analogizes in the section on "Scholarly Identity"). Kenneth Burke would call this aural image an example of the "Jingle Dog"--the mechanism of language whereby rich, deep, "unconsious" meanings arise out of connections possible sheerly as a result of the accidental nature of words' linguistic characteristics, specifically their visual or aural imagery.
