Taking synchronicity
as their ectopical starting place, Haynes and Holmevik explore the "pressure"
zone between "the printed and the printer": writing about synchronicity
places them in "a time when living and meaning are in sync" (217),
"between the pressure of living right now and the pressure of making
meaning of living right now" (218). -ddd | MOOspace is the quintessential synchronous
online environment, fostering a textbased, realtime interpersonal encounter.
What separates language in MOOspace from other online language, the authors
suggest, has everything to do with the simultaneity in
this space, with the MOO's promotion of "cyphertext"
and "élekcriture"two
of the many H&H neologisms that require a bit of unpacking. |
