Because
CHAT-based texts often involve choices that do not match exactly
standard conceptions of what student "texts" should look like,
narrative becomes a critical tool for the development of
CHAT-based writing courses. This is the focus of my fourth item.
Item
Four:
Students and instructors can use descriptive narratives to
outline, analyze, and make explicit the possible "range of
materialities" available for any given composition activity,
highlighting not only the choices that composers make, but the
robust nature of the research involved in these kinds of
composition activities. Narratives also allow composers to
include discussion of choices made by those who distribute or
receive and make use of the texts in different ways. |
