Campus Exposure

At each institution, there is a concerted effort to engage the Sharing Cultures Project in a larger, campus-wide, and perhaps even community, conversation. Through the Office of International Programs, the Sharing Cultures Project has become a part of the NMMU diversity initiative. Sponsored talks and panel discussions are a part of the regular agenda for this program. CCC has taken NMMU’s lead in this regard and begun a Sharing Cultures Enrichment Series which involves the School of Liberal Arts and Sciences, as well as the English and Liberal Education departments. Faculty presentations and film viewings, all focusing on South Africa, further enhance the Sharing Cultures Project discussion and provide another vehicle of exposure for the project. It is likely that, in the coming year, the Sharing Cultures Project may also be featured in the CCC Critical Encounters Initiative, a campus-wide vision for discussion on specific civic topics. HIV+/AIDS is expected to be the first topic of conversation for the 2006-2007 school year.
