John had not passed his exit examination when I left the University. But I do not worry about him. He will stand up for himself, and as this narrative asserts, may yet cause some real trouble for this University in the future. However, John has clearly decided the University is completely at fault. As much as I see the University's failure to hear what John requested of it, I remember John's literal deafness to the language of the University and his unwillingness to consider legitimate anything the institution demanded of him and his preparation.
