The ACW Listserv
ACW is an acronym for the Alliance of Computers and Writing, an organization
representing an association of teachers and researchers in public schools,
community colleges, and four-year colleges and universities. This group
is interested in using computer technologies and networks to improve their
classroom writing instruction. The ACW was started in mid-1993 by Trent
Batson, John O'Connor, and Fred Kemp, based on a collaborative model of
interaction whereby individuals could share their experiences integrating
technology into courses and curricula. Many teachers have exchanged syllabi,
collaborated on joint projects in distance learning situations, set up
panel sessions for academic conferences, co-authored articles, and discussed
the pitfalls and rewards of teaching with computers.
