Reactions to the MOO: Fragmented Threads

Mike Palmquist

The Kairos Meet the Authors session was my first extended MOO experience -- and I was surprised both at how quickly I got into the flow of things and at how chaotic the session was. The student audience that Barry Maid brought with him certainly made things interesting. It changed the audience, at least for me, from a group in which I knew many of the participants to one in which I had the sense of strangers looking in on our discussion.

I was typing and reading about as quickly as I could and still finding that I wasn't keeping up. The fragmented discussions (multiple threads) didn't seem to work well with my serial processing brain. Then again, even though things didn't work as well as I would have liked, I really enjoyed the experience of bouncing from thread to thread, picking up ideas and moving on to others.
