Designing Susie

By Katie Hart

To begin with, let me contradict Susie’s assertion that I was bored when I drew her. I was not, in fact, bored; rather, I was in the process of being highly creative: sketching a character that would appear on a display board outside the Writing Center. When I showed this sketch to Dr. Chloé Diepenbrock, my boss, she immediately recognized that I had drawn Susie. And so Susie’s image was born.
