Sharing Cultures logo

Welcome!

Eastern Cape, SA and Illinois, USA Greetings from Chicago, USA and Port Elizabeth, South Africa. This web offers a polyvocal discussion of our collaborative teaching effort, the Sharing Cultures Project. Our approach to this web follows the South African ideal of ubuntu: hospitality or "humanity to others." Hospitality resonates throughout our thinking about this project – several of us write directly about it, and we all agree that it plays a central role in building the cultural bridges so crucial to our work. Thus, we've built this web in as welcoming a way as possible.

Ha-de-Dah
As you read the project, we invite you to follow the link to our music page. This link will open a flash document in a separate window. The link provides a nice accompaniment to the project, as well as another metaphor through which you can understand the project.
Our music page. (1.3MB or so) (After you open the page and read it, you can leave it open to hear the whole Ha-de-Dah song as you read the rest of the project.)

We suggest that you enter the web text itself through the Overview page, and continue from there.
