For this assignment, you are to take one of your anecdotes
from Journal Entries #2 or #3, and add a minimum of FIVE
marginalia, using Douglas Coupland's Generation X as a
model.
Marginalia, according to our discussion of Generation
X, consist of
some or all of the following characteristics:
- Marginalia are definitions, slogans, cartoons, or images.
- Marginalia are humorous, usually sarcastic and/or cynical.
- Definitions consist either of neologisms (new words) or of
phrases with words
combined in a new and different way.
- Marginalia are peripherally located in relation to the
portion of the
narrative to which they indirectly refer.
Here are the parameters of this assignment:
- You must have a minimum of THREE definitions.
- You must have at least ONE image, which you "steal"
from anywhere on the web.
- The remaining marginalia can be either:
- another definition
- another image
- a slogan, cartoon, drawing, etc.
- The anecdote must be a minimum of 400 words.
- Your hypertext should be creatively designed and
linked--remember, you
don't have the constraints of linearity with this form.
