How to avoid preaching to the already converted? This is an issue that comes up often at Vassar College, when we become blind to the eclectic nature of the community here. We begin to argue amongst ourselves and tear apart the texts which drive, guide, expand and resuscitate our minds because of our own fear that any flaw will cause them to be disregarded entirely. But they are already being disregarded, and our community is not a mirror image of the community at large.
So my question is, will a journal on hypertext for writing professors as a web page need to consider how it can actively incorporate the non-converted? There will need to be accompanying activism, either as dialogue within the journal or as an outgrowth of this project. It is very important to allow this voice to be heard, not just by those who make up the voice.
