commentary on story (part 1)

Unenrolled students had entered my computer classroom on many prior occasions. When (and if) I asked them to leave in the past, they had always complied graciously, often apologizing for the intrusion. Typically, though, I am amenable to allowing unenrolled students to take unfilled seats. But this particular class consisted of graduate instructors discussing pedagogy, technology, and their own writing classrooms. If the anonymous visitors intermittently joining us were my students’ students (and I had no way of knowing if they were), our conversation might have been curtailed considerably by their presence. It seemed wise to simply preclude this possibility by closing the room to unenrolled students.
