Recent conversations with students at my own institution, part of a reaccreditation-related research project undertaken to investigate uses of academic technology, confirmed my sense of students' uses of genre in courses outside the English Department. Some students  would have liked instruction in creating newsletters, and one student mentioned that she had been required to write newsletters in at least two courses. Other students mentioned that they were required to write Webpages and Power Point presentations in upper-level classes.
