MUD: Multi-User Domain/Dungeon/Dimension
(take your pick). MUDs are text-based virtual realities that are usually devoted
to gamingthe players log on to slay dragons, grab loot, and/or fight for
wizardry powers. (Or to engage in kinky furry-animal role-playing) The difference
between a MUD and a chat room is that in a MUD, you can create objects with
which you and others can interact. MOO: Multi-User Domain,
Object Oriented. Descendants of MUDs and are typically either socially or educationally
oriented. In social MOOs, there are typically fewer magic wands, dungeons, dragons,
pirates, and loot than there are hot tubs, living rooms, and pubs. And in educational
MOOs, you'll usually find libraries, poetry rooms, and classrooms.
