Description of a learning technology education advisor

"Along with many other schools, spread over thousands of square kilometres, Tipping and Danton are served by a single learning technology education advisor, Georgia. Our account focuses on how participants face the challenges of limited local knowledge and equipment, unreliable internet access, and restricted time with Georgia, who covers vast distances by road and on whose great energy and commitment each school relies heavily" (88).

"Georgia's preferred pedagogical mode is to work with teachers to develop motivated, coherent activities around applications she is trialling. When we visited Tipping, she was exploring potential learning applications of a digital camera and scanner, in conjunction with the use of the internet and HyperCard. Georgia works with the teachers under her care to conceptualize learning activities and projects, trains them and the students in relevant applications, and coordinates with all the schools in her area to visit on a schedule that keeps the various activities moving forward as efficiently as possible" (89).
