Technology Is Not Always AvailableAs many writers have noted elsewhere, access issues are paramount concerns for writing instructors who use technology in the classroom; for teachers who do not have adequate support from their institutions, teaching with computers, to the extent that it is possible at all, is very difficult and requires enormous energy from both teachers and students.
Technical support for the students alone can eat up hours and hours of time that should in fact go to either reading and commenting on papers or on the teacher's research, and not on how to get a modem to dial the university or college.
