Women’s Studies J111: Women in Culture
"Outrageous Acts and Everyday Rebellion" Discussion Board
Assignment
9 October to 15 October 2000
A new discussion board on Gloria Steinem's "Outrageous Acts and Everyday Rebellion" (Feminist Philosophies 345-48) opens in Blackboard today, October 9. We'll be using this forum to discuss this reading and to begin to define liberal feminism, so we'll be integrating a lot of the work we've done in the class to this point into this discussion, particularly our second forum.
It would be an excellent opportunity to go back and review the posts under our second discussion board about feminism—essentially what we'll start doing this week is trying to offer a definition of feminism that reflects what we've been reading. You may also find Susan Moller Okin's "Justice, Gender, and the Family" (Feminist Philosophies 313-31), the article you're reading this week for your third response, useful for this discussion.
You should have at least three substantial posts by Sunday, October 15. Remember that a substantial post is not a couple of sentences—also, as I've been checking off assignments for the progress reports, I've noticed that many of you didn't fully participate in the last discussion. This is a substantial part of your course grade, so don't miss it!
