I. Constructivist Approach

There are advantages of following a constructivist model of design. Wilson, Teslow, and Osman-Jouchoux (1995) list the following possible advantages of following a constructivist design model:

  • more meaningful learning outcomes that are likely to be used in relevant contexts

  • more meaningful participation of the learner in the learner process

  • more independent problem solving capability

  • more flexibility in design activities

  • more flexibility in instructional activities

  • more acknowledgment of social and motivational factors in learning.

III. Activity Determination

1. Learner Centered

We should tailor this for new technology users, like those who are nervous about letting students use the Internet as sources.

2. Hands on

Yes. We want to have lots of opportunities to practice so faculty members are comfortable showing their students the technology.

3. Production based

Will have to demonstrate how to select and use web search engines plus Boolean logical operators.

5. Showcase work of others

Use my students' essays of the evaluating a web site essay and give out copies of the assignment sheet.
