We may not seem to be who we are With computer-based communication, people can easily be misunderstood; personality traits that are held in balance in face-to-face daily interactions can become exaggerated. For example, the dark side of persons who are usually thought of as "frank and straightforward" might emerge as pushiness or even rudeness in on-line conferences, as happened with one of our members. Good will can be harder to establish and maintain on-line, although play-times, usually at the beginnings or ends of sessions, worked to achieve this goal. |
