The Studio

The Studio opened in 2015 as part of the new library building. It has 24 workstations, 12 Windows, and 12 Macs. Software includes iMovie, Audacity, Final Cut Pro, the Adobe Creative Suite, and more.

Audio Suite

The Audio Suite is designed for podcasing, voiceovers, and basic music production. It is soundproofed, but we regularly have to remind students that it keeps noise out. It definitely does not keep bass in.

Video Suite

The Video/Photography Suite has basic 3-point lighting, black, white, and green backgrounds, a ring light, and a product box. It's excellent for interviews, fashion photoshoots, and vlogging.

Class

Because all the chairs are on wheels, it's easy for students to gather around the workstations to collaborate. The low walls allow instructors to get everyone's attention about the assignment.

Project

We keep headphones (and splitters) on-hand so the students can focus on what they're trying to do without disturbing other patrons.

Project

Because the space is part of the Library, students have access to the equipment and computers regardless of their major or whether they are working on an assignment. These students were working on a personal project during the summer of 2019.

Equipment

The Studio circulates over $100K in equipment to any student, staff, or faculty member who would like to borrow it. We choose a range of equipment, ranging from the easy to use up to "pro-sumer" and more professional equipment. This way, the novices feel welcome and the well-versed are impressed. We can also provide scaffolding for the newbies who want to get better.
