Rosenblatt understood literature to be an event in time that involves a transaction between reader, text and writer. This event then becomes part of the reader’s life experience. The critical position I take in this hypertext presentation is that hypertext best positions readers, writers and learners in our explorations of 21st Century Literature. New Criticism, Myth Criticism, Structuralist and Semiotic Criticism, Phenomenological Criticism, Psychological Criticism, Political Criticism, Deconstruction, Feminism, Ethnicism, Reader Response Criticism and Post Modernism provide reading strategies that will help readers form multi-linear readings which in school and in their lives will best be described as experience with hypertext.
