This tree-story involves a teacher (Jason Olsen) and some students at Western Michigan University. The following newspaper article from the Western Herald (the WMU student
newspaper) describes the class in this way:
"Over the course of this semester, a class of 33 students has
been divided into two groups to devise writing projects based on
the exploration of innovative forms of publication, Olsen said.
Instead of writing on traditional 8-1/2-inch-by-11-inch sheets
of paper, he said students are encouraged to write on other
various objects.
'The class is designed to let the students explore the
relationship between art and writing, and between innovation and
writing,' said Olsen, who is also a doctoral student in the
creative writing program."
