This webtext analyzes Kairos's identity as an online publication and speculates whether it has the power to change scholarly practices. Using Langdon Winner's concept of autonomous technology and his dismantling methodology, as well as Manuel Castells's theory of identity, I consider Kairos's ability to sustain an academic identity within the seemingly autonomous system of tenure.
