How Does One "Read" This Piece?

I hope that the links in this piece enable you either to choose your own path through the material or to follow the indexes I've provided. (The main index appears on the opening page.) One of the beauties of the Web is that it seems to give more freedom to readers than they had with print texts, so I hope you move through these pages in whatever order you wish.

Perhaps, though, you haven't read through such a thing as a hypertext before? If so, be warned: occasionally certain links will take you "outside of" (or should I say "away from"?) the linked pages of this preface. In that case, be sure you know how to back up through web pages if you want to "return" to Kairos.  (How, for example, can you return to the previous page without clicking here?)
