Invention in the Digital Age: New Approaches to Thinking about Writing
By Jessica Schreyer
JSchreye@dbq.edu

  • Tina Bacci, University of Rhode Island

The Computer Connection was an opportunity to learn practical, hands on information about improving my composition class with technology. I believe that continued growth of the Computer Connection would help demonstrate how important and engaging technology can be in the composition classroom. In this presentation, Bacci discussed her use of Office software within her introductory English classes. She uses Excel and PowerPoint to help students draft ideas and outlines for their papers. Bacci also provided insight on how scholars could utilize some of this basic software, which requires little training, to improve and streamline their own research process. Bacci presented a fine overview of the history of technology in composition classes, and related this overview to her own work with computers.
