Evaluation

One of the most difficult "tasks" concerning portfolios is teacher evaluation/assessment.

Because portfolio evaluation is partly based on progress and process, there is no clear cut, universally designed rubric.

However, there are some general standards to help guide teachers and administrators. The Kansas City Public School system recommends the following "characteristics for evaluation":

bullet Does the portfolio show growth or change over time?
bullet Does it include the process by which work is done as well as the final product?
bullet Does it demonstrate thoughtful reflection on one's own achievements and learning?
bullet Does the portfolio identify or develop goals for further achievement?
bullet Does the portfolio contain an adequate amount of information?
bullet Does the portfolio contain adequate quality in individual pieces?
bullet Does the portfolio contain adequate variety in the kinds of things included?
