The Learning Record Online (LRO) is an on-line forum in which students create and submit work and teachers evaluate it. This project explores the philosophy and methodology of the LRO and how the LRO meets the challenges that new conceptions of new media, technology, and composition offer.

In this project, I examine the LRO in the context of other portfolio models and student/teacher responsibility; I look at how the LRO is similar and different from other portfolio models and how when integrating the LRO into the classroom, students and teachers must exercise responsibility and understanding.

On the larger level, this project explores the relationship between new media, technology, and composition by establishing the LRO as an integral part of this relationship. Exploring the LRO in the context of this relationship foregrounds the roles of new media and technology in the composition classroom and highlights their roles as integral and unique elements of the composing process. Likewise, (briefly) exploring the fusion of new media, technology, and composition foregrounds the unique components of the LRO. Thus, we see how the fusion of the LRO, new media, technology, and (new conceptions of) composition are different, similar, and mutually dependent.
