Professional MOO spaces like Nouspace, local MOOs, and other chat rooms have sprung up to supplement the valuable meeting spots  provided by the Netoric Project and Lingua MOO, which led the way in facilitating real-time communication in professional communities. Increasingly, instructors maintain virtual office hours, offer writing tutorial assistance, and share advice or collaborate with colleagues in Web-based chat environments.
