techno-teaching

moospace

A few years earlier, I had some success using MOO space with Basic Writers. However, in that classroom, only a small self-selected group of interested students worked with the MOO. This class would have to unanimously choose to move to a text-based environment. The class was interested in but skeptical of running the entire class in the MOO, and as it turned out, the MOO was used more as a chat space during class time than for the kind of text-object building that characterizes MOO-based writing instruction. For more on MOO-based writing instruction, see the Summer 1996 CoverWeb.
