city on the hill

alienate reality

And so this town continues to alienate those members of the community that can offer constructive change. And this is, perhaps, the goal of this insulated community. Keep out the potential disturbances, but at the price of any potential improvement. There's no vision of utopia to offer constructive guidance, but only fear of degradation. But then again, perhaps I've gone too far. The Deaf community uses images of Gallaudet as inspiration for constructive change, building community commonalties around the best aspects of a community most can only hope to realize, a community built around shared experience and common communicative needs. In Gallaudet, everyone understands you and you understand everyone. In Gallaudet, Deaf is normal.
