The next and seventh edition of the NAEL is set for the year 2000; it also represents the first edition without the venerable Meyer Abrams as General Editor and the first to be organized since the emergence of the Web. (The current 6th edition dates back to 1993.) This presentation will review some of the difficult decisions that any new general editor and team of assistant editors would have to confront in order to make effective use of Web-based materials. Perhaps the overriding question here is just what to put on the Web versus in the anthology itself, and hence what should be the ideal relationship between the two.
