Literature Sites on the World Wide Web

This collection of literature resources was assembled for participants in the 1997 Ocean Creek Institute on "Literature and Literacy in an Age of Technology" sponsored by the College Section of the National Council of Teachers of English. Many of these sites were mentioned by institute participants as being especially valuable. Other sites were mentioned in the packet of readings sent to all participants, which included a chapter from The Gutenberg Elegies: The Fate of Reading in an Electronic Age by Sven Birkerts (Fader and Fader: Boston, 1994).

If you want, you can view slides from John Slatin's keynote addresses as well as links mentioned in his presentations at the Ocean Creek Institute. Anyone interested in literary study or the teaching of literature is welcome to use this collection and is encouraged to participate in its development. Please suggest additions to this list by sending an email message to Dawn Rodrigues.
