My experience in shuffling these three facialities/spacialities was a fairly positive one. Since we were on a regular schedule, the students quickly fell into the routine. But more importantly this approach provided a variety of contexts in which the students were able to think, speak, and write. We could have typical class discussions in the traditional classroom, or gather up the chairs to do group work. The LAN room worked especially well because not only were they able to experience Chatroom discussions, (but) the circular configuration of the room allowed for group work, class discussions, and peer reviews. The networked room gave them a chance to work on their own with the computer, surfing or posting to a listserv. All of these experiences gave me the opportunity to give immediate examples of different rhetorical situations and how these situations affected the way they wrote according to context.
