His is far from the only book in flux within Wonderland as that defiance of the finality of text is built into both the mockery of familiar nursery rhymes and Alice's own attitude towards text. Moving into what Marshall McLuhan and Quentin Fiore called "electric time-space" draws attention to the flexibility of Alice as a character and as a work—the same traits that make her easy to modernize: "'Time' has ceased, 'space' has vanished" (63).
