KAIROS

CALL FOR RESPONSES

Kairos: A Journal For Teachers of Writing in Webbed Environments

The response section gives Kairos  readers a chance to join and expand on the ongoing textual discussions. It has three components: reader reactions, Classroom Spotlight, and the Meet the Authors series.

Reader reactions are simply that: the readers' reactions to previously-published webtexts. These take a variety of forms, from simple "Letters to the Editor" reactions, to responses much more involved and interactive like Issue 2.2's Link/Age  Response, which was a response/review -- ("responseaview") -- to both the book itself and the review it was given in a previous Issue. We are always looking for reader responses.

Classroom Spotlight is an overview, and re-publication of the webwork of a class focusing on key issues for teachers of writing. We prefer classes which relate directly to the issue's Coverweb, but are open to any proposals. The 3.1's coverweb focuses on copyright, intellectual property rights, and plagiarism, especially as they relate to cyberspace and the Internet. If your class has written about this issue please contact us and participate! Both undergraduate classes and graduate seminars are encouraged to query.

Meet the Authors Series is a Lingua MOO forum in which the Authors of Kairos  webtexts and a Kairos  Editor lead discussions about the issues raised in the texts as published. MOO Logs for these texts will be edited for publication and reaction in forthcoming issues of the journal.

The dates for our November MOOs are:

To join these discussions telnet to lingua.utdallas.edu:8888 or use the Web by going to http://lingua.utdallas.edu and click on the option 'Login'. From here follow the instructions the MOO gives you; if you are unfamiliar with how to MOO in general, or with LinguaMOO specifically, see Lingua's "Beginner's Guide to MOOing." Seven more Meet the Authors sessions will be scheduled for January through March of 1998.

The deadline for all responses for Kairos 3.1 is January 27, 1998.
