Computers & Composition
Inaugurates New Column

John Barber to Coordinate "Source for News & Gossip"

The print version of Computers and Composition has recently inaugurated a new column called "Computers and Community." The still evolving mission of this column is to provide a regular source for news and gossip of personal and professional interest to our readers and members of the computers and composition community.

According to Computers and Community Editor John Barber, of Northwestern State University of Louisiana, " I envision this column as a venue for items of community interest like marriages, promotions, and moves, as well as an informal source of information about professional grant opportunities, projects in progress, programs recently started, tenure and promotion decisions, calls for collaboration on upcoming conference presentations, workshops, and/or publications." Barber continued, "Of course, the contents, and thus the aim of this column could well grow beyond these simple starting thoughts. That, I hope, will be driven by reader interest and willingness to share information."

This is the second time in a year that Computers and Composition has launched a new section headed by a member of the Kairos Editorial Board. Barber joins Michael J. Salvo of Texas Tech University on the C&C team, while both will also remain with Kairos.

"I know it sounds corny," Barber concluded, "but I'd love to hear from you if you have community news you think would fit our evolving vision. Please contact me using the information below. Email is preferred as it can save us all some time, but I'm connected to other technological umbilical cords as well."
