Jonathan's Reflection
Valuing Interactive Literacy

Quite simply, I am privileged to have worked with such wonderful colleagues on this project, and I think that visitors to this site will feel so as well.

I can't think of any other "place" where you can find such a collection of hypertext teaching wisdom. And, as is the case with wisdom, the appreciation of it usually lies in the acceptance of some fundamental and irreducible paradox. The paradox of our hypertext? It uses a diversity and multiplicity of styles, forms, and hypertext experiences to value one thing: literacy. But not just literacy. Interactive literacy . . . the best kind, perhaps the only kind. In other words, it is a literacy which is Readers and Writers becoming Authors and Teachers together. This is communication. It is also poetry, education, hypertext, and art.
