Jonathan: Let's Find Out Together

I could say that I've never felt so humiliated in my life, but that would be overstating my case. I'm sure you've had the experience of being asked a question and not knowing the answer. Not a pleasant experience. But a revealing one, if you let it be so.

To wit, during the question-and-answer session at the presentation, I was asked where one of the links on my page ("Hypertext and Queer Theory") linked to. I stood mute. I had forgotten.

At first, I was pained because I didn't want to look as though I didn't know my own "space." But it occurred to me that creating hypertext is all about letting go of your own space, of becoming a co-creator with the browser. The absence of immediate answer was followed by the presence of insight: I don't know . . .why don't you go there, and we can both find out together?
