What happens when a teacher does try to co-opt the Pink Monkey website by starting her own discussion with her students, in one thread quoted by Ritter, is flat-out embarrassing in its cluelessness: the students immediately abandon their own agency in the interest of pleasing the teacher, and submit nothing but “correct answers” which the teacher rewards with chirpy affirmations (pp. 70-72).
