In this century, rhetoric/composition studies has
been preoccupied with an idea of
the self as stable, which has led to valuing
writing as a mechanism for "self-discovery.
In contrast, this course encourages students not to
discover their "stable selves," but rather their own imbrication
within systems of oppression.
