In the culture of the simulacrum, everything becomes chancy.
The risk of the aleatory need not provoke paralyzing dread
but can prove liberating for people who have had to bear the
chains of necessity far too long. Within the register of
the
imaginary, structures of determination appear to be
constructed
to avoid the anxiety that freedom
inevitably
provokes. The challenge is to apprehend anxiety as the pulse of life
rather than the mask of death.
